Woods Stays On

NEIL Woods will continue as Grimsby manager, and Town chairman John Fenty wishes to stay as Chairman of the Mariners as the club attempt to bounce back into the Football League. Grimsby are attempting to establish some sort of continuity after years of sacking managers.
At a press conference today the board also announced some other changes.
Town are not expected to retain many players from last season and they have released three and put seven on free transfers today including Sweeney, Proudlock, Hegarty, Jarman, Forbes and Linwood.
They have though offered professional contracts to three youth team players.
Grim Rob Says: The news is broadly welcome. It's good that the directors are willing to continue to finance the club as without them GTFC may well not be viable. It's also good that Mike Parker is helping share the load with John Fenty. I wasn't happy when Neil Woods was first appointed, but I'm not unhappy for him to continue and be given a chance in a lower division. We can't afford to spend more years appointing failed managers. As for the playing staff there won't be many players from last season I will be sad to see go.
