Beat the Bookies: Week 17

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 18/11/2010 (Last updated: 20/11/2010)

LAST week was another highly successful week for Beat the Bookies. Crewe built Gillingham at 2/1 in one of the two main tips, and many of the others mentioned came in, including Sunderland beating Chelsea!

Home > 2010-2011 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 17

  • BIRMINGHAM (5.5. Boyle Sports) v Chelsea. Chelsea got found out last week at home to Sunderland and Birmingham will either get the backlash, or the mini-slump will become something bigger. The Blues though still look decent value at 9/2.
  • Blackpool v WOLVERHAMPTON (3, Ladbrokes). Regular readers will know we nearly always tip Blackpool to lose. Neither side has done much recently but Wolves have an excuse - they have been playing the top sides, although they had a poor result last week against Bolton. Even so 2/1 looks a good price for an away win.
  • Bolton v NEWCASTLE (3.75, Victor Chandler). Newcastle really do blow hot and cold, but have won their last away games at Arsenal and West Ham and look a good price to make it three.
  • FULHAM (3.25, Victor Chandler) v Man City. The story of this season has been the poor form of the teams at the top. But the bookies keep offering great odds against them, presumably because most people are still backing them (the fools!). Fulham have a great record at home against the bigger sides, and this looks another good value bet.

  • Shrewsbury v SOUTHEND (4.33 Sky Bet). On paper this should be a home win, buy you never know!
  • PORT VALE (2.5, William Hill) v Wycombe. Both sides have been doing well, and Wycombe are yet to lose away. Maybe that's why Vale are such a good price!

  • Crawley Town v ALTRINCHAM (12, Victor Chandler). This is just a daft price!
  • Luton v HISTON (11, Bet365). So is this! Histon are actually above Luton in the form table!
  • WREXHAM (2.38, Sky Bet) v Darlington. Darlo have the distraction of the FA Cup, Wrexham are strong at home.

  • Monkey's bet: 3-1 win (19.0, Bet365)

    Selected Bets

  • Birmingham to beat Chelsea, 5.5, Boyle Sports
  • Histon to beat Luton, 11.0, Bet 365
