Grimsby v Crawley Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 21/01/2011

SERGE Makofo will make his debut for the Mariners against Conference leaders Crawley Town. The Congolese will almost certainly start up front in place of the suspended Lee Peacock as Charles Ademeno is still unavailable.

Makofo has been playing on the wing recently for former club Kettering, but has played as a striker before.

Town otherwise are missing several players. In addition to Peacock and Ademeno (who requires another operation), Coulson (knee) and Ridley (stomach) are both out. Peter Bore (toe) and Bradley Wood (ankle) are also doubts. Youth Team coach Robbie Stockdale played as an emergency right back against Kettering, but may not be able to play two games in a week after not playing first team all season.

Moneybags Crawley looks like being without midfielder Scott Neilson, who took a knock after coming on as a late substitute at Bath City on Tuesday evening. The only other long term injury is midfielder Simon Rusk.

The Sussex club have quality throughout the side, are through to the FA Cup fourth round with a good chance of going further, and are favourites to win the Blue Square Premier league which they currently lead.

However the Mariners turned the Red Devils over at the Broadfield Stadium, one of just two clubs to win their this season, and will be looking to get the double over the FA Cup giant killers.
