Town Bungle It Again

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 17/04/2011

GRIMSBY once again threw away a two goal lead in spectacular fashion as the Winless Wonders somehow contrived to draw another game they should have picked up three points from. Two goals from Alan Connell had got Town off to the perfect start and they went into the break 2-0 up against bogey side Bath.

After the break the game looked to be heading for a routine win until Bath suddenly gave themselves hope when a shot by Murray through a congested penalty box beat Croudson. Bath then hit the bar not long afterwards to give Town a massive wake-up call. It was one that Grimsby did not heed. In the 90th minute Bath won a free kick and Clough headed in an equaliser.

Town had a chance to redeem themselves when Connell was upended in injury time. Town's leading scorer took the spot kick himself but the 'keeper guessed the right way and made a good save to deny Connell his hat trick and Town the three points they deserved.

The new managerial duo now have gone six games without a win, and the football team eight games without picking up three points. There are four games left this season, three of which are away from home. Neil Woods the previous manager took 23 games before picking up his first elusive win.
