On the Buses

JUST like buses, the Mariners supporters have been waiting ages for a win, then two come along shortly after one another. This time Barrow were the victims with goals by Connell and Leary seeing off the Cumbrians.

The Mariners made just one change from the side which beat Mansfield on Tuesday, fit again Rob Duffy come in for Lee Peacock up front. Youngsters Thanoj and L'Anson both kept their places in the starting line-up. Rookies Sam Mulready and Dayle Southwell were included on the bench,

A scrappy first half almost came to life on the half hour mark when Connell and Duffy combined, before Connell's shot was cleared off the line.

Barrow started the second half the stronger of the two sides, but it was Town dangerman Connell who scored the first goal of the game with yet another chipped goal, this time from 25 yards out

Connell then provided the assist for Town's second on 73 minutes, taking a corner which Leary glanced into the net.

This time the two goal lead jitters were once again absent and the Mariners managed to hold out fairly comfortably to pick up their second win on the road in a week.
