By fan for over 70 years

I went to Blundell Park last Saturday full of excitement as to our new management team which promised to look as if we were really going to have a good season, something we need as the last seven or eight bad ones are the reason as to where we are today. I even had thoughts of having a MID-FIELD and that we would be TIGHT AT THE BACK, that would at least give us a chance of having a decent season that would maybe lead us to challenging to get promoted.

I have been watching Town now for 50 years. This season the quality of football is the worst I have witnessed. We pay the wages of all the staff . Is it too much to ask to see football played, or even trying to be played, by our team? Basics: try and keep the ball on the ground. On Saturday against Fleetwood over 50% of balls going forward were sky high passes, anybody's ball. Could we try to take the ball upfield passing man to man? When a ball is passed surely it is important to give the person you are passing to get a greater chance of receiving it rather than the opposition, sending it in the air to anywhere consistently is pathetic I think several of the players are capable of trying to play the game on the ground, man to man passing.

The goalkeeper can also help to keep possession. On Saturday against Fleetwood the goalkeeper created nothing . So I believe the tactics of the passes to nowhere are coming from the managers. It's no good, it questions their ability to direct our club. Experienced ex-players from higher places than Boston probably, would lead us to a better quality on the field. To me, John Fenty has proved he is not capable of choosing the right managers to lead us. Lastly we need a couple of senior players, probably on their way down, to get in the centre of things on the park and force the correct tactics to be played. Who can remember Paul Futcher and earlier Allenby Chiltern making sure we played football on the pitch?
