GRIMSBY have appointed a new director to the board whose remit is to advise over the new stadium plans. Stephen Marley, who previously acted as Town's accountant when he worked for Weaver Root, has now retired from the firm, and will be continuing his work for the Mariners.
Grimsby are hoping to relocate to a site off Peaks Parkway, after years of attempting to move from Blundell Park. The proposal took a setback recently when club failed in their application for funding from the Regional Growth Fund, however that does not scupper the prospects of a new stadium on the site.
Marley told the Grimsby Telegraph: "My involvement has been to do with the financial aspects of it - budgeting planning, taxation matters and everything related to that. As far as I'm aware that will all continue.
"This is a method for enabling me to continue to provide my services, advice and help to the football club in a more official capacity."
This site is by the fans, for the fans, and we will consider articles on any subject relating to the Mariners whether it be related to current news, a nostalgic look back in the past, a story about a player, a game or games in the past, something about Blundell Park or football in general.
