Grimsby v Southport Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 05/04/2013

GRIMSBY face Southport at Blundell Park on Saturday for the penultimate home game of the season. With three away games following the match this weekend the Mariners need to make the most of the opportunity to get three points at home.

Two victories on the road for Grimsby make their league position look a lot healthier, but it's the home form which has dipped recently. Town have drawn one and lost the other two of the last three games at Blundell Park.

Grimsby will almost certainly make some changes after playing three games in five days, and whoever is fit will probably play. Colbeck, Wood, Thanoj and John-Lewis were all rested for the last game and may well be rotated into the starting line-up. Liam Hearn was an unnamed substitute at Macclesfield, and he could well feature in this match as his fitness gradually improves.

Southport have got 50 points which might ordinarily be enough to avoid relegation but this year it looks like a few more points will be needed. With their last three games being against Grimsby, Forest Green and Luton they'll be happy to get a point from any of those games. Before winning at Braintree on Wednesday night Southport had lost 7 out of the last 8 games.

Fishy Prediction: Grimsby 4 Southport 1
