Most Ticket Prices Go Up

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 25/05/2013

GRIMSBY have increased ticket prices for the first time in a decade, with many tickets round the ground seeing some sort of price rise. It's inevitable that tickets have to go up at some stage as the inflation and VAT increases have all eaten into Town's margin on a ticket since the original prices were set.

Ultimately the ticket prices translate into the playing budget, and Town fell just short of promotion last season. A few more pounds from every regular home supporter could make the difference between success next season and another year in the Conference in 2014=2015.

Most fans who wish to pay the same prices as last season, or even less in the case of season tickets, can still do so if they use the Main Stand, which is now the cheapest stand at Blundell Park.

For match day tickets:

  • for adults, there will be a increase of £1 in the Pontoon and Lower Findus and £2 on adult ticket prices in the Upper Findus
  • for adults, prices remain the same in the Main Stand
  • senior citizens and young adults (aged 15-18) see an increase of £2 on the price of a ticket in the Upper Findus, but prices remain the same in all other stands.
  • Tickets for unaccompanied juniors (aged one to 14) increase by a £1 but juniors who attend with a paying adult can get in for £1 less than last season.

    For season tickets:

  • The price of an accompanied junior season ticket has gone up from £20 to £50 in all stands with the unaccompanied junior increasing from £70 to £80.
  • The price of an OAP and Young Adult season ticket remains the same in the Main, Pontoon and Lower Findus.
  • The 'Early Bird' price of an adult season ticket in the Pontoon and Lower Findus goes up by £19 and £20 in the Upper Findus.
  • In the Main Stand, the price of a season ticket has come down by £14.

Grim Rob Says: the changes seem in the main fair, and fans whose budgets are tight could consider watching from the Main Stand. In the last decade other matchday costs such as petrol, food, drink and public transport costs have gone up far more than ticket prices have in the intervening years. It's only right that the club has to put prices up as well from time to time. Other clubs have certainly put their prices up in many cases.
