Southport v Grimsby Team News

PAUL Hurst has a full squad to pick from for the trip to Southport on Saturday. The only player likely to be absent is Nathan Arnold who missed the draw at Wrexham due to a family bereavement. Midfielder Matt Robinson has returned to Luton from his loan spell at Blundell Park, cutting down Hurst's options in the centre of the park.

Full back Richard Tait missed the Wrexham game but has returned to training this week. However with a clean sheet under his belt Hurst may be tempted not to change the back four. Further up the pitch Grimsby presented little threat at Wrexham and Hurst may turn to striker Padraig Amond to try and get one over another of Grimsby's bogey sides Southport.

Southport striker Mike Phenix is suspended after a red card in the draw with Halifax. However forward Cole Stockton signed for the Sandgrounders on loan from Tranmere last week and will continue to deputise.

Town have a poor record against Southport, who like Grimsby have drawn their last three games. Grimsby have won just one of ten games at National League level against Southport - only Macclesfield come close to Southport when it comes to bogey status. In fact Grimsby have won just 4 times in 21 visits to Southport stretching back to 1921 where the Mariners came home having lost 7-1 on their first visit to Haig Avenue.
