Marcus Bignot Joins Town!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 07/11/2016

MARCUS Bignot has joined Grimsby Town as their new manager after a deal was reached with his former club Solihull Moors, who Bignot guided to the National League title last season. Micky Moore, Bignot's assistant at Solihull, will also join the Mariners.

Bignot, a full back (predominantly in the Football League) as a player like his predecessor Paul Hurst, managed Birmingham City Ladies as a part-time role, before joining Solihull, initially as Assistant Manager. Bignot has spent six years at Solihull, and Moors won the National League title last season.

Bignot's last game at Solihull Moors was in the FA Cup at the weekend when Solihull fought back from a two-goal deficit to earn a replay against Yeovil.

Bignot's first game will be the meaningless EFL Trophy game against Sheffield United in midweek, before the first proper game on Saturday when Town face Barnet at Blundell Park.

Town's best managers have come from non-league including Alan Buckley, Russell Slade and Paul Hurst. Hopefully Bignot, on a six-month rolling deal, will emulate their achievements at Blundell Park.
