Is football a business or a sport?

Doncaster v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 16/12/2016

AN army of 4000 Grimsby supporters will be making the journey to Doncaster for the lunchtime kick-off at the Keepmoat against one of the division's in-form sides. Right back Ben Davies is back in contention meaning midfielder Sean McAllister is the only absentee.

Doncaster captain James Coppinger will be suspended after a straight red card for grabbing Plymouth goalkeeper Luke McCormick by the neck during last week's 2-0 defeat, and the midfielder starts a three match ban. As a result striker Liam Mandeville is expected to drop back into midfield allowing Andy Williams to return up front.

Doncaster are unbeaten at home but Grimsby have won at Luton and Plymouth so will be looking for a hat trick of wins at "fortresses". Considering the two teams close proximity it is surprising how infrequently they meet, and they haven't played in the same division since the 1989-90 season. Two cup games have taken place in the intervening years, most recently a penalty win at Blundell Park en route to the JPT final at Wembley in the 2007-2008 season.
