Season Tickets Frozen

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 13/05/2017

GRIMSBY will maintain season tickets at the same price as they were during the 2016/2017 season when they go on sale at the start of June. However, the club have warned that there will be an increase of around 10% in a year's time.

Over 3000 season tickets were sold last year, Town's first season back in the Football League. Although Town ultimately ended up in a mid-table position they were only a handful of points off the play-offs and with Russell Slade having the chance to shape his squad over the summer, there's every chance of a higher finish next season.

Town's ticket prices compare favourably with other clubs, which is why the board have decided to put them up for the 2018/2019 season.

In other news, the League 1 and League 2 sides have voted overwhelmingly to continue with the controversial format of the EFL Trophy for the next two seasons. Besides the 48 teams in the bottom two divisions, 16 Premier League and Championship academy sides will be invited to join. The prize pot has been increased to ?3m. Many supporters boycotted the early rounds, although attendances rose considerably at the latter stages and nearly 80,000 people watched the final between Coventry and Oxford. Many supporters dislike the format because they see it as a stepping stone towards "B" sides being invited into the Football League.
