Carlisle v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 02/03/2018

THE Carlisle match is on, despite the snow, as the Cumbrians' supporters have cleared the pitch of snow today and it has been passed fit to play on. There may be further pitch inspections depending the weather, however.

Simeon Jack and Mallik Wilks are still injured. Striker Harry Cardwell was given his first start last week and impressed despite the disappointing result against Exeter. Cardwell looks likely to keep his place as the Mariners bid to end their 14 match run without a win.

Carlisle have long term injuries to defender Tom Miller and midfielder Kelvin Etuhu, but otherwise everyone is fit to play. Carlisle have won the last three games and need three points to keep in touch with the play-offs. Several other games are likely to be postponed so the match gives a chance for both teams to gain ground while others rest.

The match will Wilkinson's third in charge. He has effectively been given a good chance to claim the job for himself but there seems little chance of that now after the first two results. The caretaker boss will be hoping it will be third time lucky in what could well be his last game in charge, even if Town manage to win.

Meanwhile Blundell Park has suffered a burst pipe and the club shop and offices have been closed.
