Grimsby v Doncaster Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 12/08/2019

GRIMSBY will be forced into changes for the visit of Doncaster in the Carabao Cup. Ahkeem Rose and Ludvig Öhman both limped off in the draw with Bradford and Saturday and look like being rested for the cup game, where some of the fringe players will be given a chance.

Moses Ogbu and Mattie Pollock came on for the pair against City and could be two of the changes which Michael Jolley makes. Sebastian Ring, Max Wright, Jordan Cook and Charles Vernam could all feature prominently in the game.

The Mariners beat Doncaster 1-0 in a pre-season friendly but that shouldn't have much bearing on a competitive game and Rovers are a division higher than Grimsby and reached the play-offs last season so will probably be favourites on paper to progress.

Doncaster have drawn both their league games this season and the Mariners are also undefeated after two games.

Grimsby last beat Rovers in a competitive game in 1990. They have drawn 2 and lost 4 of the intervening games.
