The Day of Reckoning

Date: 05/05/2020

GRIMSBY have appointed a new chairman, Philip Day, the first for almost nine years. John Fenty resigned as chairman in 2011, since then the position has been unfilled, although in practice Mr Fenty was the chairman in all but name.

Since Fenty's decision to step back away from active involvement in February, Day has stepped up as the club's spokesman and has now taken the additional step of taking the traditional position reserved for the figurehead.

It's a time of great uncertainty with the club receiving very little income and no prospects of games taking place, with or without fans, in the near future.

Day's first challenge is to oversee the club's survival during the spell with no matches taking place. Once more details of how sport can proceed as the lockdown is relaxed, then the club will be able to plan for restarting in whatever format they can.
