Efete Departs

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 31/01/2024

MICHEE Efete is the latest player to leave Blundell Park. The right-back has departed "by mutual consent" after his chances were limited under new boss David Artell. He is now a free agent.

The Londoner joined Grimsby from Wealdstone and played 80 times for Town. He was a regular in the promotion season (although missed the play-offs) and started in every game of last season's FA Cup run.

Efete is the third player to leave in this transfer window following Luke Waterfall and Kamil Conteh. Midfielder Otis Khan (on loan to Hartlepool) has also effectively left the club.

Artell wants to bring in new players by 11 pm on Thursday when the transfer window closes by releasing and selling current players. Town signed three players earlier this month, but many fans are hoping for more experienced names to join the squad in the closing hours.

Together with the disappointing campaign in the first half of this season, Artell's preferred high-possession style of football does not suit every member of the current playing squad hence the need for some new blood.

  • UPDATE: Midfielder Evan Khouri has joined Spennymoor Town on loan until the end of Feb.
