Viking Stavanger

Viking Stavanger, which is number 3. in the Tippeligaen, have several players out of contract after this season. Among them are some Iceland internationals.

The players are:

  • Rickhardur Dadason(Iceland)
  • Audun Helgason(Iceland)
  • Frode Eike Hansen
  • Gunnar Aase(Ex-Norway)
  • Jørgen Tengesdal, Odd
  • Arne Espevoll(Ex-Norway U21)
  • Erik Fuglestad(Ex-Norway U-21)

Rickhardur Dadason was sold to Hamburg SV in the winter for £600K but failed the physical test. He is a striker for the national team and his club. He is the Niall Quinn type, good at heading and scores a lot of goals, last season he had 17 goals in the league. Can be signed to day as it is under a half year until his contract ends.

Audun Helgason was last winter over at Portsmouth for test play but didn't want to play for them as he saw his right defender position on the Icelandic national team could end. Is fast and can also be used in other defending positions. He can also be signed to day as a Bosman rule player.

Frode Hansen is a local player which have greew with his age. His final breakthrough was probably for Viking against Werder Bremen in the UEFA-cup last season. He is a hard player to meet, his weakness is that he can do mistakes under hard pressure. Mark Lever with Elvis hairlook! And yes he is availebal for a Bosman signing!

Gunnar Aase can after 1st July sign for which club he wants. He is fast and his right foot could embarras Beckham. Was young and promising. Still a very good, but only 3 caps(1 goal)+many youth caps. Long servant for Viking. Have told he want to go abroad.

Jørgen Tengesdal young man who haven't played so much for the first team, but have scored 8 goals in three reserve fixtures. Have the speed to be a star.

Arne Espevoll ends his contract in under a half year and is therefor availebal to sign with which ever club he want to. Have been used in every defending position for Viking, he is fast and very profesional. Not a man that will sell a lot of Black & White tops but after all he is free.

Erik Fuglestad have been on loan to Viking out his Norwich contract. The contract ends 21st May. Then he is free to go to which club he wants. After 6 of his matches for Viking he have come on the team of the week three times. He have scored two goals, one of them probably in the goal of the year debate. His left foot can be used everywhere on the field but have recently been used as central defender in the Groves position or as left defender. Have told he want to play for a Premier club, isn't Grimsby the premier club of Lincolnshire?

There is many young talented players coming up in Norway nowadays.

Espen Johnsen, U-21 international which maybe could be 3.rd goalie for Norway under Euro 2000. Sherwood with glue... Liverpool have already put his eyes on him. Extremely on the line, some nonchalant

Ragnvald Soma, U-21 international wanted by Boro, Newcastle and Champions League team Molde. He is maybe the next Henning Berg or should I say Paul Futcher? His club have economical problems to solve can be used every where in defence and midfield. Will cost around £750.000, his club need money! So come on Buck!

Anders Blomquist, Swedish player. Last years 18 goals gave promotion. He is an attacking midf./striker. Juninho and Paul Groves on a good hairday. Want to go abroad, but injured to about July/August.

Mats Lehman play in the 1. division, he is 21 years old and was "super-unknown" before this season. After 4 league rounds he have 4 goals. Which have made him close to an U-21 international call-up.

Christer George. 6 goals on 4 matches in the 1.division is great from the U-21 international. He is wanted by many Tippeliga clubs. Specially after scoring 4 goals against Skeid. Daryl Clare on Speed

Bjørn Helge Riise (16) I don't think many people outside his town have heard about this player, he play at the third level for the club Aalesund. He is Jon Arne Riises younger brother, J.A.Riise is Norwegian A-international and only 19 years plays for Monaco! The little brother is told to be better, technican midfielder!

Tommy Øren U-21 international which plays on the second level for Sogndal which have produced the Flo family (Jostein for Sheffield U/Tore Andre for Chelsea/Håvard for Wolves/Werder Bremen) Himself is a striker wanted by many english and french clubs, but want to play in Norway some more seasons as he don't want to be on the bench for a big club. He might want to play regular for GTFC?

Trond F. Ludvigsen (18) Play in the Tippeligaen for Bodø/Glimt. Young striker, scored in his debut 17 years old! Great future, cheap?

Azar Karadaz (20). Plays for Brann in Tippeligaen. Powerfull striker wanted by Sunderland. Was a substitute that wanted to play in the start of this season now he is on everyones lips... Woops, Buckley!

Thorstein Helstad (22) Another striker from Brann, can play some games that send him into Euro 2000 discussion and so play like my grandma, but absolutely worth the money!

Erlend Hanstveit (19) Maybe the most promising defender in Norway U-19. His club Brann have £6-7M in minus... Wanted by Leeds U.

Aleksander Aas (22) Right back for Odd in the Tippeliga. If Butterfield disapear throuh the summer and McDermott is still going older. Have probably the longest throw ins in the World! I have at least not seen anyone throw longer. Ex U-21. Wanted by Rosenborg. Some Goldy Oldies

Jan Frode Nornes, Norway B-international. Gary Croft with muscel's... Was old before he break trough, but is now among the 5 best left backs in Norway. Will probably grow even more with a club change

Tommy Berntsen, 15 goals at 54 league matches is nice from a central defender which NOT taking penalties!!! Graham Rodger with hair... Have a chance to get in EURO 2000 squad if R. Johnsen is injured

Knut Anders Fostervold, something between Livvo and Clint Eastwood. His sister works as Sport TV-host, better get her to GTFC-TV. She would look good in a Scunthorpe kit... Her brother is left footed

Runar Kristinsson, If Alan Pouton and Zidane got a boy together. Icelandic international which score these wonder goals. Wanted by Belgium clubs. But want to wait until his contract ends to get money

Jostein Jensen
