News From 15th June 2000
Alex King, the former Newcastle United commercial director, has resigned his post at Newcastle, and been co-opted onto the board of Grimsby Town.

"He brings into the organisation as a non executive director an awful lot of knowledge of commercial activities.
"He has been a senior executive in football for 30 years and has been at the pinnacle for the last 15 with both Sunderland and Newcastle."
As Newcastle commercial director King has been at the head of a £50 million annual turnover business at St James Park.
