The Buckley Sacking Debate

David Peasgood this week finds Fred and Bert have just heard the news about Alan Buckley.
Hear their views and YOU decide in our latest 'fishy' poll.

Bert & Fred

The Buckley Sacking Debate

FRED:
YESSS!!! HERE WE GO, HERE WE GO, HERE WE GO!!

BERT:
I take it you approve of this decision to oust the most successful post war Grimsby Manager

FRED:
HERE WE GO-O HERE WE GO…!!

BERT:
BERT! LISTEN TO ME.

FRED:
My Goodness I haven't danced like that since VE day. Now I know what you're saying about Buckley and we could spend the rest of the day discussing whether he should have gone or not but lets not. What's done is done. Tell me who will replace him.

BERT:
Well Cockerill I suppose.

FRED:
No good. He may know the team but has he really got enough clout and experience.

BERT:
Peter Jackson then ex Huddersfield boss wasn't he.

FRED:
I've heard rumour of him but don't know how true it is. Even if we got him would it do much for us. Would he bring back the missing crowds?

BERT:
He can't have had worse PR skills than Buckley.

FRED:
A big name would be good for the club. What about Ivano!!

BERT:
A big name would cost money we don't have. Ivano is an unknown. We need to avoid both. I assume the Ashcroft money has just been spent paying off AB.

FRED:
I wonder when they decided to push him. If they knew a while back we might have kept Peggy AND have him do the biz for a new manager. I bet we see Wayne Burnett suddenly burst into life now too.

BERT:
I bet his lad is wondering how he'll do now.

FRED:
At least we know we'll get fair team selections without the petty bias against anyone who isn't his mate anymore.

BERT:
I wonder if that defensive display against Portsmouth made up the boards mind?

FRED:
It's more likely to be the probability off crowds less than half the third division gates and the loss of revenue.

BERT:
But what chance has a new bloke of staving off relegation with our squad?

FRED:
I don't know mate. But I'll bet my best chrome zimmer-frame that now we'll get a bit of value for our ticket money and a chance to watch some exciting football.

BERT:
Lets hope it's a quick decision anyway. A new man with the nous to pick up a few players too and who knows what next. This could be good for us I guess.
