The Ground Site Debate
David Peasgood this week finds Fred and Bert have been reading about the consultants report on the new stadium sites on the Fishy.

The Ground Site Debate
FRED:
It must be a conspiracy.
BERT:
What?
FRED:
This stadium report. It's finished but we've heard nowt. I bet the consultants came up with Great Coates
BERT:
So what if they did.
FRED:
Well it'll embarrass the council won't it. That's why we've heard nowt.
BERT:
The council will have a meeting planned soon be patient
FRED:
Patient!! Don't talk to me about patient I've waited six years. I want to see this ground before I die and that could be sooner than the grounds built at the current rate. Anyway there was a meeting planned this month and it was mysteriously cancelled.
BERT:
How do you know that?
FRED:
I have my sources.
BERT:
So did your source tell you there is also a meeting next month to discuss it.
FRED:
Like I say there's a stalling tactic going on. I'm very suspicious.
BERT:
Anyway I thought there were about fifteen sites identified
FRED:
Maybe. I'd love to know where though.
BERT:
You could almost guess. For instance Great Coates
FRED:
Club would like it, council would go bananas.
BERT:
How about the back of the YMCA then?
FRED:
No bus route and imagine the snarl ups outside the Hainton Inn. There's already queues cos of the Peakes Parkway traffic lights.
BERT:
King George stadium site then?
FRED:
Too small and the locals would go potty. Some nice houses there.
BERT:
OK then down the Laceby Bypass between Morrisons and Alexandra motors opposite side to Laceby?
FRED:
Aye I like that one.
BERT:
Or Bradley village?
FRED:
That's a good one too.
BERT:
My favourite is still the docks
FRED:
Room for a ground but not for the developers hotel/retail park though.
BERT:
There's talk about this Stallingborough Water Meadows too as being favourite.
FRED:
Where the hells that?
BERT:
It's practically the same as Great Coates but the other side of the Europarc roundabout. A tadge further out than Great Coates but not much.
FRED:
Well wherever it is lets hear soon cos the longer we wait the more worried I get that someone's planning a whitewash
BERT:
You my wrinkled old mate are getting paranoid. A pound to a penny for every site named, the council need to talk to each owner to let them know out of courtesy and get each owner on their side before publishing the sites.
FRED:
Well that's true. If they name the sites first then the anti town brigade may get to the owners first and warn them off selling to the club. I'm still tired of waiting though.
BERT:
Well after 6 years another 3 weeks won't hurt. We'll know more by mid october I bet your rug on it.
FRED:
I haven't got a rug
BERT:
What's that daft thing on your head then?
FRED:
Oh great tell 'em all won't you.
Now for the vote...
