2000 Review of the Year
By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 30/12/2000
Few years in the entire history of Grimsby Town Football Club can have been quite as eventful as the year we have just lived through. In the main it is not the actual match results which the Mariners have been involved in which have made the year so memorable, but rather events off the pitch.
2000 was a year that started with a brand new board, saw wranglings between different factions of shareholders, a sensational managerial sacking, the appointment of Lennie Lawrence, the battle with NELC, and the arrival of a huge contingent of foreign trialists and loan players. The contrast between the recruitment strategies of Alan Buckley and Lennie Lawrence could not be greater!
The review is split into six parts covering two months each.
- Part One: January & February
- Part Two: March & April
- Part Three: May & June
- Part Four: July & August
- Part Five: September & October
- Part Six: November & December
