Question of the Week

Next England manager?

LL: More Loans

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 22/02/2001

Town manager Lennie Lawrence is still looking for two loan players to bring in but has confirmed that they will not be from overseas clubs but he may well look abroad during the summer. There is no guarantee either that he will bring in a striker.

"Strikers are our obvious problem but Bradley Allen is not too far away from being named in the side."said Lawrence today.

"It depends on where we can bring someone in who will help make a difference."

Although he can bring in two loan players he intimated that he is keeping one in reserve as he might need to call in an experienced keeper in the event of injuries.

With the success of the Zhang Enhua loan Lawrence has not ruled out another sojourn to Asia in the close season. The fans would certainly like to see Enhua stay but it seems that his price is too high and the Chinese FA have put a block on transfers until after the world cup qualifiers.

If he is looking for a striker there can be no time like the present with only our defenders finding the net. Our front men have certainly created their chances and with a bit of luck they may well start finding the target again which is the major need right now if we are to continue our late revival.
