Many Town fans could never work out just how good (or bad) poor old Darren (native of Grimsby) really was. For a man who claimed he would "Walk barefoot on broken glass to play for Town", he was the invisible man in both the Laws and Buckley era, barely been seen at all. He did however manage a cracking goal away at Reading in 1996, but after that was never seen again. After two years of hibernation he joined Walsall and strangely scored 20 goals for them! Something I never understood.
