A Win We Can Build On - Groves

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 17/02/2002

"It's a nice feeling. It's good to feel like that and hopefully we will feel like that a few more times this season. Tremendous credit to the team. They worked very hard for each other. We created a number of chances and kept going throughout the game."

Paul Groves talking after the win against Sheffield United continued: "It's one win and it's something to build on. But there is a lot of hard work still to be done. The big thing is the collective spirit we have here."

"I thought the fans were tremendous today, they really got behind us, it was a great atmosphere in the ground and it made a difference."

"We were the one's who were pushing for the game throughout and we stressed to the players that we needed to carry on in the second half in the same way. It could have been frustrating if the goal hadn't gone in, but I thought we had made enough chances.

"When we scored we tried to keep the ball in the right areas and not try and kill the game off and hopefully, you never know we might have got another opportunity to score."

Paul praised Simon Ford for his last ditch tackle on Paul Peschisolido that saved the game. "That's the value of the squad and having everybody fit, we've been able to get everybody virtually fit, this has made the bench stronger. As you saw Paul Raven had to come off and an able replacement comes on."
