Chris Kiwomya Arrives on Trial

GRIMSBY Town have brought former QPR, Ipswich and Arsenal striker Chris Kiwomya to Blundell Park for a trial with the Mariners. The 31-year-old forward, who has recently returned from a spell in Denmark, will take part in training sessions with the Mariners for two days.
Kiwomya, who left QPR at the start in the summer, has most recently been playing in Denmark for Aalborg. Prior to joining Rangers the Huddersfield-born forward had a unhappy three-year spell at Arsenal after having left Ipswich, the team where he made his name, and scored 51 league goals in 196 appearances.
Kiwomya now arrives at Blundell Park hoping to earn a contract to play for Town, probably until the end of the season. After Martin Pringle's horrific injury Grimsby's hands are tied by the FA's bizarre regulations surrounding loan players, and cannot bring in anyone else on loan until the end of the month. They can, however, offer deals to out-of-contract players, or entice a player to the club via the transfer market.
Meanwhile 32-year-old Luton defender Richard Dryden has joined Gary Ablett on Paul Groves not wanted list, with neither of the veteran defenders having been offered short-term contracts at the club.
