DR FISHY has compiled match statistics and a report card for the Grimsby Town side that lost to Millwall 3-1 in the final game of the season.

5 | Corners | 7 |
11 | Fouls | 7 |

Coyne: It's difficult to assess his performance as from where I was sat, I felt he could have saved the third goal but chose to leave it. He was quick off his line and made one smart save but overall there was no spectacular performance to end the season with.
Grade: C
Ward: The booking was a little unfortunate for the 18-year old and he did look vulnerable when Millwall's players ran at him. His tackling was excellent but looked off the pace. I won't be too harsh on his debut; he will only improve.
Grade: C
Chapman: The left-sided full back was also vulnerable and it was in these wide situations that we looked uncomfortable with. Millwall put pressure on Chappy all the time and he struggled to cope at times.
Grade: C-
Todd: Perhaps he was at fault for the first goal, as he didn't get in first to clear the danger. There was little he could do in the air against Dublin but he was probably our best player in the end. He still showed his class at times.
Grade: B-
Groves: Couldn't really deal with Harris' runs off the ball and looked a bit slack marking in the box. The manager committed himself forward too much and left gaps at the back, which just served to set up Millwall breakaways.
Grade: C
Cooke: He was quiet for long spells but when he was in the game he attacked the Millwall defence. Hobbled off in the second half but didn't do anything wrong in the game. He got forward and caused a few problems down the wing.
Grade: C+
Butterfield: Kept cool under pressure to slot past Warner in goal to equalise. The versatile defender/midfielder was closed down very quickly and didn't get any space whatsoever to manoeuvre.
Grade: C
Pouton: Dribbled out from near his own corner flag and threw himself into challenges and injuring himself - this was a typical performance from the captain for the day. He didn't surge through the midfield and failed to set any chances up.
Grade: C
Coldicott: Strangely he played better at right back but by that point Millwall were more bothered about keeping it tight at the back. It was a great pass to set up the goal - a forward pass I should mention!
Grade: C
Allen: Millwall must have done their homework on Town's front pairing. They were not given any space or time to create and Allen was made to look poor. He didn't really do anything of note in the match and was subbed late on.
Grade: D+
Boulding: Not as explosive but still gave it the effort and once or twice looked to have got through Millwall's back line. As soon as he was given the ball he wasn't allowed to turn and use his pace.
Grade: C
SUBS
Burnett: Looked sharp and settled the midfield down but again he was just another Town player who couldn't get anything going on the day.
Grade: C
Robinson: Initially played wide left but got forward more near the end. He injected some purpose and strength into the side and looked like a player playing for a contract - whether it be here or somewhere else.
Grade: C+
Livingstone: Came on late and I wonder if he even touched the ball.
Overall Conclusion: It was a good start to the season but I think we all feared the excellent run had to come to an end. As it did, the players' grades went somewhat downhill as the rare As became Bs, and Bs became Cs. At one low point in the New Year an E was given! But, as the team improved the grades rose and although the season finished on a rather 'average' note, the brilliant run over the past few months will never be forgotten.
Grade Guide
A* | This is almost impossible to achieve as I will refuse to give anyone this grade - unless they score six goals and get opposing players sent off. |
A | This is more possible to achieve, although the player must have had a brilliant game i.e. he can't have put a foot wrong all match. |
A- | The player must have performed superbly, setting up goals, scoring goals, making match-winning tackles etc. |
B+ | The player played to a very high standard indeed having been influential throughout the 90 minutes. |
B | This can be achieved if the player had a very good game overall but could be forgiven for making one or two minor mistakes. |
B- | The player put in a performance worthy of special mention for his efforts on the pitch or otherwise having a good game. |
C+ | A mark for players who have had an average game but at the same time played well in patches and may have had an impact on the final score. |
C | An average performance but not worthy of being dropped for the next game - a competent performance. |
C- | Start thinking about the player's attitude and commitment on the pitch. Showed little effort and was probably invisible for most of the match. |
D+ | Poor game and realistically shouldn't feature in the next game. |
D | This player shouldn't be playing in the near future. |
D- | The player deserves to be fined for his abysmal performance |
E | The player should be sacked |
F | And then shot |
