Chapman to be a Pilgrim

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 11/06/2002

CONFERENCE Champions Boston United are reported to have signed Grimsby Town left-sided defender Ben Chapman, and are also said to be interested in snapping up out-of-contract Town midfielder Danny Butterfield to boost their first ever campaign in the Football League.

23-year-old Chapman, who was a useful squad player during the last campaign, and the Scunthorpe-born defender featured in seventeen league games on the left side of defence or midfield during 2001-2002.

Whether Danny Butterfield will follow Chapman to his home town club of York Street remains to be seen, although with Chapman and another former Mariner Daryl Clare in the Pilgrims' first team squad, the move down the road to the Third Division new boys might have the added attraction of a few familiar faces.
