Mariners Reserve Team Saved

GRIMSBY Town today announced that they will be fielding a reserve team next season after discussions with board members and a reallocation of the budget.

Chief Executive Ian Fleming contacted the Avon Insurance League to withdraw Town's resignation and the AIL admitted them back.

Paul Groves said "I am delighted that the Club has been able to find the funds for the Reserve Team. Reserve football plays a vital role at this club, and I felt it was imperative that every effort should be made to continue. Obviously it was a decision based on limited finance, but we have shifted one or two things about to accommodate a second string team."

There are various cost-cutting initiatives concerning the Reserves which have helped in the reinstatement with money saved on away travel, and the Mariners' decision not to enter the Avon Insurance Cup, and compete only in the 24-match League competition.
