Davison's Return!

FORMER Grimsby Town keeper Aidan Davison is set to face his old club when his Bradford City team travel to Blundell Park for next Saturday's big show-down between the relegation rivals.
Three points separate the two sides at present and a victory for the Mariners would not only close the gap on the Bantams but it would also heighten the morale within the injury-ravaged squad.
Davison, who played just under two seasons for the club and enjoyed such successes as the Auto Windscreen Shield trophy and promotion through the Play-Offs, declared: "It's going to be a tough game."
The 34-year old has been first choice at Valley Parade for most of the season but knows his side must work hard to get the result they need: "Basically, we're struggling of late and it's as simple as that. We know we've got to dig in.
"You kind of grind things out when you're near the bottom of the league. There's no secret formula. It's no different whether you're at Bradford or Grimsby. The league position doesn't lie so you just need to keep working hard."
Bradford have lost ten league games on their travels but they will fancy their chances against a Town side that has lost six league games at home already this season.
However, Davison believes the Mariners have what it takes to beat the drop: "They've got a good squad of players. I think the key is injuries. They don't have a big squad but what I think they do have is enough to stay up."
A draw would not help either club although it would maintain the three-point gap between the two sides and Davison knows that the teams above are still not safe.
He continued: "It's really tight. If you look at the teams above Bradford you've got Walsall and Preston who have been dragged down. If someone puts a run together over three games then that makes it chaotic."
This will be Davison's first start at Blundell Park in an oppositions' shirt although the reception he will get is the last thing playing on his mind: "When we played Grimsby at Bradford earlier in the season I got a few sarcastic comments as you would expect, but generally the people were good to me.
"It's probably going to be a mixed reception but it's not a problem for me."
