The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Pompey 3 Grimsby 0

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 02/02/2003

Pompey won 3-0 without any real threat from Town, who did play some good possession football at times. Yacubu Ayegbini, Portsmouth's recruit from Maccabi Haifa, marked his first start in England with a goal.

Simon Ford turned the ball past Danny Coyne (75) to score a home goal and Nigel Quashie scored the usual last-minute third goal.

One report said: "Pompey never needed to get out of first gear to dispose of a woeful Grimsby side whose fate was sealed when their defender Simon Ford scored an own goal"

But others were not so unkind saying: "Grimsby were not easily beaten but failed to penetrate the defence."

A full report will appear on here later.
