Cod Head of the Week: Scott Pannell

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 10/02/2003

THIS site is written by fans for fans and, the latest installment of the new series of Cod Head of the Week, is Scott Pannell.

Home > Features > Cod Heads > Scott Pannell

We regularly need new Cod Heads, so would appreciate contributions from lifelong supporters of the Mariners. This week's Cod Head is Scott Pannell .

Fishy:
Tell us a bit about yourself?

Scott:
I'm Scott Pannell aged 20, and I'm studying Archaeology A-Level and hopefully going to York Uni next year.

Fishy:
When did you first start supporting the Mariners, and what was your first game?

Scott:
I've supported the Mariners since I was 8 when my uncle used to take me and my cousin to pretty much every home game. I can't exactly remember my first game as I was too young but a few that stick out is a 5-1 win over Wrexham, a 1-0 win over Exeter (Gilbert pen) and a 4-2 win over Burnley.

Fishy:
Who is the best player you ever saw wearing a Grimsby Town shirt?

Scott:
The best player I have seen play for town has to be John Oster. His runs were amazing and he's the sort of player that fans want to see. The closest we've got now is Pouton: his final ball is c**p, but he's still a god.

Fishy:
If there is one game you were allowed to go back in time and watch what would it be and why?

Scott:
It's a bit predictable, but I'd go back to the Liverpool game and try and appreciate it a bit more. Apart from that it's always good to win away from home. I especially enjoyed the friendly against Scunny last year coz we di**ed them.

Fishy:
What, in your opinion, are GTFC's best and worst seasons since you have been supporting them?

Scott:
The best season for me was the first when we went back to the old 3rd division. The worst was Alan Buckley's last season in charge.

Fishy:
What is the most eventful day you have ever had in the course of following the Mariners?

Scott:
The most eventful day has to be the Liverpool trip. Me and my mate took a Leeds fan and a Mansfield fan and converted them to Town fans. We could all do with people doing that, then maybe we'd fill our ground.

Fishy:
How many games a season do you get to now, and what do you do while Town are playing games that you can't get to?

Scott:
I get to practically every home game and I've made a couple of away trips.

Fishy:
Name your all-time starting eleven since you have been watching Town?

Scott:
Coyne, Macca, Broomes, Enhua, Croft, Pouton, Oster, Gilbert, Boulding, Mendonca, Birtles
