Renewed Hope For Oster and Hughes Deals!

PAUL Groves is hoping to keep hold of his two loan stars, John Oster and Richard Hughes who have only two weeks left at Blundell Park.

"At some point we have to make contact with Sunderland with regards to John and when a new manager comes in you never know what will happen," said Groves to the Grimsby Telegraph.

"A new man might want to have a look at all of his players, or he might have seen enough of them on TV or whatever to know who he wants. I would think he'll want to have a look at all of his players but we'll speak to Sunderland once they've appointed a manager."

"It will be the first conversation after that happens and then we'll see how the land lies."

"We'll have to speak to John and we know he's got aspirations of playing in the Premier League. I'm sure he'll want to see what's happening up there. It might be that whoever comes in will want his own players. But we shall see."

On Richard Hughes, Groves said; "I'll speak to him later in the week. With losing Pouts it's important that we do try and keep hold of Richard. I think he's a decent player, gives us good balance, strength and gives us options. He can break up play but is very comfortable on the ball as well."

"He's come into a club where he doesn't know anybody and had to fit in very, very quickly. He hadn't played that many games this season before he arrived and I think that now he has done we'll see the benefits and he'll make strides forward."

"He wanted to come here and play and that was refreshing."
