GRIMSBY Town chairman, Peter Furneaux has issued the following statement regarding Marcel Cas in response to last nights article in the Grimsby Telegraph.

Grimsby Town Football Club wish to make the following statement.

On the 27 th December 2003, Marcel through his agent, expressed his desire to terminate his contract in order to return to Holland for family reasons.

Grimsby Town offered him assistance with his wishes, initially to enable him to continue playing for the club. Despite his continued involvement in recent matches Marcel's personal issues could not be resolved and his agent has again repeated Marcel's wish to return home

We have now reluctantly agreed to this and the necessary paperwork has been drawn up and is available for signature.

In view of Marcel's statement to the press yesterday the matter needs to be brought to a speedy conclusion.

Peter Furneaux
Chairman
