Bill Carr Passes Away

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 13/02/2004

FORMER Grimsby Town chairman Bill Carr died today after a long battle with cancer. Bill was chairman of the Mariners between 1995 and 1999, in which time Town made their two historic and victorious trips to the Twin Towers of Wembley.

Bill was a lifetime supporter of the Mariners, who was known for his generosity and his many hours of work behind the scenes at Blundell Park.

There will be a minute's silence during tomorrow's home game with Brighton in memory of Bill Carr and the players will be wearing black armbands.
