Is football a business or a sport?

Sestanovich Statement

THE club have issued a statement following a return to normality since attacking midfielder Ashley Sestanovich walked out of Blundell Park on Saturday. In the statement Stan says his apologies.

"I've come in this (Tuesday) morning and we have sorted out our differences," Sestanovich said in a statement on Mariners Net.

"I would like to say that I am sorry for letting anyone down. I'm sorry for letting the club down, the gaffer, team-mates, myself and more importantly the fans.

"I'm here to play football, it was a big game and I'm very passionate about my football.

"Any player that is dropped for a big game is going to be disappointed - I felt that I dealt with it the wrong way."

Russell Slade's angle on the affair is that the matter has been dealt with internally (presumably with a fine) and the club can now move on to other things.

"We spoke twice on the phone yesterday (Monday) and Ashley has come in to see me this morning and we have ironed out the situation," said Slade.

"Stan wants to put across his own views, but as far as I am concerned it has been an internal matter that has been dealt with.

"Stan is here to stay and hopefully now we can concentrate back on the football."
