THE Mariners have signed Scunthorpe United midfielder Terry Barwick on a two year deal. Barwick is 22, and described as combatative with a "good engine".

The Doncaster-born player came through the youth ranks at Glanford Park and made his debut against Burnley in May 2001 whilst still a first-year scholar.

Justin Whittle has also signed a new deal at Blundell Park and defender Glen Downey has agreed a one-year deal bringing the total of signed players to eleven.

Russell Slade said of Downey; "Glen had a hard time last year but he gives us options at the back. He can play in a number of defensive positions and has been steady when called upon."
