Zhang Enhua | 2000/01 | 16 (1) | 3 goals |
Chinese import who joined Town on a 3 month loan from Dalian Shide in the 2000/2001 season. At first looked very nervous and was un-suited to the English game. Enhua's main task was to be he short term cover for Peter Handyside who was out with a long-term injury.
Zhang soon adapted to Grimsby and even got on the scoresheet 3 times in his spell, once with a glancing header to beat Burnley 1-0 at Blundell Park( his celebration was used on the opening credits of ITV Yorkshire's Goals On Sunday for the following season)
Enhua would have made a very decent permanent addition; however, the Chinese International demanded unrealistic wages. Zhang returned an honorary Codhead and went on to play in World Cup 2002.
