Paul Raven

Paul Raven joined Grimsby in the summer of 2000 on a free transfer from West Brom. It was yet another raid on Buckley's old club.

The big central defender had a nightmare start for which he was tainted, and was never considered good enough by the majority of fans.

Raven was never able to hold down his place in the side, and was a player clearly out of favour with boss Lennie Lawrence.

He had some steady games during the beginning of the 2002/3 campaign but was sent off against Rotherham - a game in which Georges Santos was also sent off and the Mariners held out for a 0-0 draw.

Following his departure from Blundell Park Raven had a spell with Carlisle. He helped to keep them up that same season but was relegated the year after.

Next Player: Michael Jeffrey
