Leyton Orient - Preview

By: The Fishy Team
Date: 21/10/2005

Leyton Orient travel to Blundell Park on Saturday afternoon to face the top of the table team with hopes of improving their position in the league having won 4 of their 6 away games.

But all is not well with the Mariners with news that Gary Croft is a non starter with a knee injury that has made him miss the last four games.

Also on the injury list is Gary Cohen who took a knock in the Morecombe game and is struggling with an ankle injury

Andy Parkinson who has been suffering with shin splints is expected top recover in time to face the O's.

As Russell Slade has not made decision yet on the loan extension for Simon Francis, he may be playing his last game for the Mariners.

Slade told the Grimsby Telegraph; "I haven't spoken to Neil Warnock (Sheffield United boss) about Simon yet. He will be available for Saturday but we already knew that he couldn't play in the Newcastle game."

"I will be hoping to speak with Neil over the weekend but the fact he is cup-tied gives us a bit of extra time to sort things out."

"We have a few days so we'll see what the lad wants to do and also what Sheffield United's plans are before making any decision."

"I think Simon has done well for us, though, in his time here and has been committed to the cause."

Martin Ling the O's manager told their official website; "Without doubt it's the toughest game of the season so far, he said. "It's a test for our unbeaten away record and our run of eight games without defeat."

"But there is only two-points difference between the two sides and both sides are evenly matched. We can handle the test but what they've done over the first 14 games has proven that they'll be in the top seven all season and they'll back that up with 7000 supporters."

"The northern trips have been an Achilles heel for Orient in recent times but we've proven this year we can handle them."

The last home game against the O's was on 18th September 2004 which resulted in a 2-0 win for Town.
