The Mariners face Newcastle United in a game that dreams are made of. After beating Tottenham in the last round, the Mariners are hoping to send another Premiership team home from Blundell Park with their heads down.

Not an easy task, but Town have shown the capacity to lift their game against good opposition and the game will be a true test.

Town have a number of players unavailable for the game against Newcastle but this will not stop them for going for another 'Giant Killing' game.

Steven Taylor who plays for the Toons is cautious about the game.Taylor told their official website; "I remember playing against Grimsby when I was on loan at Wycombe. "We beat them 4-1 that day, and another result like that on Wednesday would go down nicely!"

"I know they will be up for it though, and we won't be underestimating them, I can assure you of that. We will show them respect."

"They will be well organised, and they will be very physical. That was the thing I noticed about that league when I was on loan at Wycombe."

"They will be full of confidence because they are doing well in the league, and even though they've lost a couple recently they are still right up there."

"We saw what they did to Tottenham in the last round, and we don't want that to happen to us."

But Town will be without key players including Jean-Paul Kamudimba who is suffering a back injury and has missed training today.

Tom Newey suffered a dead-leg on Saturday and is doubtful for the game.

Andy Parkinson can also be ruled out due to his lack of match fitness and is reported to be sore after Saturday's game.

Injury Update

Michael Reddy, returned to training today. Jean Paul Kalala and Tom Newey are also set to return today.

Gary Croft is definitely out of the game.

The good news for Town fans is that Michael Owen, who scored a hat trick against Town when he was at Liverpool, may not be at Blundell Park due to injury. But that has not been confirmed yet Graeme Souness is keeping quiet about his line up.

But whatever it is, Town will have to field the strongest team they can and that team must also include the fans. With a sell out crowd, Town fans can make a difference by singing and supporting the Mariners.

Managers often say; 'The crowd can be an extra man.' and Town will need a couple of them.
