Fishy Verdict:No-nonsense centre half, who although not the prettiest of players at times, makes up for it with plenty of endeavour and effort. Was one of Russell Slade’s first signings as Town boss, and has been a prominent figure in the centre of the Mariners defence in the last couple of seasons. Whittle started the season alongside Ben Futcher at centre back, but following the signings of Fenton and McIntosh, was temporarily dropped to the bench. However, he is now back in the starting eleven and will be looking to recapture the form he showed last season when he played alongside Player of the Year, Rob Jones.
