Reddy Out Until Xmas

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 07/09/2006

MICHAEL Reddy will be out of action at least for three months following an exploratory operation earlier this week to get to the bottom of a long-term groin injury. The surgeon found the underlying problem with the Irishman's hip, requiring keyhole surgery, but it means no football before Xmas.

Reddy said: "I'm happy that it has now been sorted but it is a bit frustrating that I will be out for so long.

"The surgeon has done keyhole surgery and he found that there was some friction on the hip joint.

"I'm coming in to see the physio [Dave Moore] on Saturday and I will go back and see the surgeon in around 12 weeks time".

Town will be frustrated that they missed the chance to operate on Reddy during the summer, when he was suffering from the same problem. It looks like the club were expecting to sell the former Sunderland striker over the close season, but their gamble has not paid off.

Reddy requested a transfer from Blundell Park just a few days before the season started, but to date there have been no takers, and it looks like the Irishman will be on Town's books until at least 2007.
