Beat the Bookies: Week 19

TOWN'S win 2-0 against Accrington last week saw our tip come good, but with no Grimsby game this weekend it is time to look elsewhere for bargain prices. Where better to start than the FA Cup?!

The first port of call for a possible upset is Scunthorpe! The Iron are flying high at the moment but the visit of Wrexham to Glanford Park may knock them off their perches. The Welshmen have not got very good away form, and Scunny have won the last three and are unbeaten in 9 games. Nevertheless, the Red Dragons will be up for the trip to North Lincolnshire are probably better than their current league placing and form. Odds of 13/2 are available for with Betfred for a Wrexham win.

Another "upset" is Tamworth to win at Rushden. Both sides are near the bottom of the Conference, but Diamonds strike me as a club in freefall, and 12/5 is a decent price for a Tamworth win.

Finally, for the mega-optimistic, Town's odds of promotion are now 33/1 with Corals. The Mariners have a lot of ground to make up, being 11 points behind with 27 games to play, which is a mini-mountain to climb, but then 33/1 is long odds. Northampton and Lincoln both put in impressive runs in the second half of last season to lift themselves into the promotion picture, could the Mariners do the same?!

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Wrexham to beat Scunthorpe (13/2).
