Vale - Bernard Morley

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 06/03/2007

Bernard Morley died today at 2pm, after a long illness. Bernard who was a life long supporter of the Mariners was a lifelong member of the Grimsby Town Supporters Club and fans knew him as the organiser of the buses for away games.

Tony Hamilton said of Bernard; "I got to know Bernard in the early eighties when I started watching GTFC away games.

Someone gave up the travel organisers job because of the hassle that came with it and Bernard, being a true gent, stepped in and carried on doing this job unpaid for over twenty years until recently, when health problems prevented him from continuing."

"I wonder how many people banged on his door down Heneage Road, where Bernard lived, to pay for away trips?"

"Bernard very rarely missed a game wherever Town were playing and he always told you about when he started watching Town games. He often even went to an away game then went to work his night shift. That's how keen and passionate about Town he was"

"He will be missed by all the friends he made following Grimsby Town Football Club"
