Beat the Bookies: Week 34

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 22/03/2007

TORQUAY failed to come up with the goods against Accrington Stanley last weekend, and now look doomed to get relegated to the Conference.

Home > 2006-2007 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 34

This weekend Grimsby host Peterborough and the bookies favour Town to win again at 23/20. Posh are themselves in pretty good form however (they can be backed at 21/10 to win), and Town at that price are not good value, their recent excellent run notwithstanding.

Elsewhere in League Two Stockport have lost the mantle of the side who cannot fail to win, having done just that for three games. They face in-form Rochdale at home in a local derby, and the bookies rank Dale as outsiders at 15/4. Don't be fooled by Rochdale's mid-table position, they will be up for this game against their neighbours and long-time rivals Stockport. Rochdale's recent form has mirrored Town with a cataclysmic plunge into the bottom two a few months ago, rapidly followed by regular wins and a spurt up the table.

In the international games England make the trip to Israel, with Israel just 7/2 to win. Even though England are abysmal at the moment with their worst manager in living memory, I would still expect them to come through the game against a side with a poor recent record, and are a reasonable bet at 5/6.

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Rochdale to beat Stockport (15/4).
