We regularly need new Cod Heads, so would appreciate contributions from lifelong supporters of the Mariners. This week's Cod Head is Craig Young.

Craig Young

Fishy:
Tell us a bit about yourself.

Craig:
My name is Craig Young, I'm 22 years old and I live in Nottingham. I was born in Nottingham and have lived here all my life! The reason I follow Town is because my Dad is from there and I have family who still live there. My Dad moved to Nottingham when he signed for Forest back in the 70's. I currently work in the Sports Department at Trent Uni after doing Sport Science and Management a couple of years ago!!

Fishy:
When did you first start supporting the Mariners, and what was your first game?

Craig:
I've supported Town since I can remember but the first game I went to was versus Chesterfield away in the 1989/1990 season. I just remember that it was a red hot day towards the end of the season and I couldn't really see anything because it was all standing! Don't think I've grown much since to be honest!

Fishy:
Who is the best player you ever saw wearing a Grimsby Town shirt?

Craig:
Tough question but I would have to say, either Sir Macca, Jack Lester, Clive Mendonca or John Oster. We have had some awesome players who have played in some memorable games!! Macca has been brilliant, what an awesome servant he has been to Town, thanks for the memories John and all the best with the future!

Fishy:
If there is one game you were allowed to go back in time and watch what would it be and why?

Craig:
There are quite a few games that I have really enjoyed whilst watching Town. Liverpool away when Jevvo scored was just pure brilliance, the buzz we got that night was amazing, would love to go back and experience that again. Both the Wembley games of course and another game that I enjoyed going to was Sheffield Wednesday away in the Coca Cola Cup when Carbone and Di Canio were playing for them. We won over two legs and remember the atmosphere being brilliant in that away end!

Fishy:
What are your favourite and least favourite away grounds?

Craig:
Least favourite away grounds would probably be the Bescott and Molineux, only because we got stuck in traffic getting there and it took ages only for us to get thumped in both games!! The Walkers Stadium was pretty rubbish, remember there being hardly any toilets for quite a few Town fans!

Favourite away grounds would have to be Stoke, Derby, Barnsley and Rotherham, only because we had some brilliant away victories at their grounds. Never forget the banter and fun away at Stoke when Livvo scored that chip!

Fishy:
What, in your opinion, are GTFC's best and worst seasons since you have been supporting them?

Craig:
The best season would have to be when we did the double at Wembley and the worst season would have to be when we got relegated from League 1 to League 2 when we lost on that final day at Tranmere, what a rubbish day! I did enjoy the start of that season though, going on that Ibiza trip was quality, meeting the then Town players out and about round the bars and clubs!

Fishy:
What is the most eventful day you have ever had in the course of following the Mariners?

Craig:
There are quite a few, when we went to Ibiza we went out clubbing and ended up bumping into the entire team round a number of bars and clubs. Graham Rodger gave me a kiss on the cheek, Jonny Rowan wanted to know where we went to pull girls and Michael Boulding chatted about his then new contract!! Both Rowan and Boulding ended up dancing with us for a bit! Was a fun night! I remember almost passing out in the sun during the footy tournament we played in and lying at the feet of Phil Jevons whilst he chatted about Town and stuff, felt like a fool!
On two separate occasions when travelling back from Stoke and Crewe games we bumped into the whole team at the McDonalds at Uttoxeter on the A50. Got autographs from most of the players and chatted to Buckley about the team and signings etc

Fishy:
What is the strangest thing you have ever done at a game?

Craig:
Not me but my mate at the Shrews game at the end of the season just gone decided to go down the front when the players were giving away their boots and take off his shoes and offer them to Bolland! Bolland reached out to take them then realised and just burst out laughing, was pretty funny!

Fishy:
What is the worst game you've ever been to?

Craig:
Rochdale at home on New Year's Day was an absolute joke! Say no more!!

Fishy:
What's the most amusing chant you've heard at a game?

Craig:
There are lots that I can't repeat on here that made me laugh a lot! I love the banter at Town games, never been to a game where I haven't laughed at a chant or someone making a random funny comment! I think "We p*ss on your fish" is up there!

Fishy:
Who is the greatest ever GTFC manager?

Craig:
Well in the time since I have been watching I would say Buckley, what a legend!

Fishy:
How many games a season do you get to now, and what do you do while Town are playing games that you can't get to?

Craig:
I get to about 15-20 games a season, mainly away games but do get to quite a few home games too. If I can't make it, it's because I'm either working or playing football myself!

Fishy:
Name your all-time starting eleven since you have been watching Town?

Craig:
