Bishop The Key Said Casper

Bury FC's Gaffer, Chris Casper commenting on the Mariners 1-1 draw at Giggs Lane said that bringing on Bishop was the turning point in the game and Alan Buckley agreed with him.

Casper said: "The second half performance was probably the best we have played in a long time, and on the other side, I thought the first half was the poorest we've been for a long time."

"We were lucky to be only 1-0 down at the break, but in the second half we created as many chances as we did in the second half of last season."

"We sorted one of two things out at half time, we told them that Danny North was causing us too many problems on his own up front, also that we needed to pass the ball better and we needed to show better composure. We didn't win enough of our battles. We got put on the back foot very early."

"We all know what we are going to get from Bish, they could see we were bringing him on and there were one or two worried faces around when they saw him."

"When the corner was about to be taken, we pushed Andy Parrish up there. He's six foot one and he's bound to cause them a few problems, and thankfully he's got on the end of one."

"Their goal wasn't the best, but just before that James Dean had a goal bound shot blocked in the first five minutes, we did start well and the goal kind of knocked the stuffing out of us."

"It wasn't the greatest of goals to concede and for the next 20 minutes, we were put on the back foot. We stayed in the game and got them in for a chat at half time and made sure we changed one or two things around."

Alan Buckley said: "In the first half we looked far and away the best team. But Bishop came on and changed the game."

"Barnes made some magnificent saves to keep us in the match. I said to him at half time I might need to call on you and he was excellent. In fact, the second half was the best he's played since he came to the club.

"I was pleased with our performance in the first half. We had three or four good chances, we played some good football and they only threatened us once or twice.

"Bury won the majority of the battles in the second half so 1-1 was probably the right result."
