SOURCES at Millwall claim that former Town boss Russell Slade is set to be unveiled as the new Lions' boss, although Yeovil still insist that their under contract manager is going nowhere. Millwall have been refused permission to talk to Slade but appear to have done a deal behind Yeovil's backs.

Ironically Slade was approached by Yeovil whilst at Grimsby, and was appointed as boss at Huish Park shortly after taking the Mariners to the 2005-2006 play-off final, where Town lost to Cheltenham. Since Slade left Town have struggled at the wrong end of League Two.

  • Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson is refusing to give up the chase for Tom Newey despite Town insisting that the left back is not for sale.

Posh boss Daren Ferguson told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "I'm sure everyone would agree that the three names that came out over the weekend are good players who would improve our squad.

"Their current clubs are not playing ball at the moment, but I didn't expect us to get them straight away.

"I will always look to make the squad stronger and in January we may have to wheel and deal a bit to get some new players in and let some players leave."

  • Wrexham lost their game with Shrewsbury at the Racecourse Ground 1-0 today meaning that Town remain third bottom, although the Red Dragons still have a game in hand on the Mariners. The result also meant that Wrexham go bottom on alphabetical order to Lincoln, who have an identical record but have played one game more than the Welsh club. League Table

  • Nick Fenton will be suspended for Tuesday's trip to table-topping MK Dons, although 'keeper Phil Barnes should return from a one match ban for his sending off against Bradford. The match will be Shaleum Logan's last of his one month loan from Man City, though Town may try to extend the 19-year-old's loan. Any extension is unlikely though to include Saturday's FA Cup game at League One leaders Carlisle United as City will not want Logan to be cup-tied.
