Beat the Bookies: Week 13

BRADFORD failed to beat Bury last weekend. However with the FA Cup this week there are plenty of opportunities for upsets.

On paper Grimsby might as well not turn up to Carlisle, and 6/1 for a Town win does not look particularly generous against the League One leaders who have lost just 1 from 10. Even a draw at 13/5 would seem unlikely given Town's recent form and poor morale. Frankly there are better odds available elsewhere. If you had to bet on the game though Carlisle to win by 2 or more goals is 13/10, which would seem highly likely if past form is anything to go by. Justin Whittle is 100/1 to score Town's first goal and 33/1 to score at all. Tom Newey is 40/1 to score the first goal or 12/1 to score at all, not bad for someone who takes free kicks and likes to get forward.

Of the League Two teams likely to cause upsets in the FA Cup look no further than Brentford who are capable of beating struggling League One side Luton (9/2).

Interestingly Town are now best prices of 50/1 to get promoted (Stan James) and 4/1 to get relegated (Corals). There is a massive gap of 16 points between Town and the play-off places though which would need to be overcome first! One team who are dropping like a stone down the league are Dagenham who bet365 are offering odds of 4/1 to get relegated. This would seem to be good value for a team who are not used to being in this position.

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Carlisle to win by 2 or more goals (13/10, bet365).
  • 2. Dagenham to get relegated (4/1, bet365).
